Is there a better way to kick off a long weekend than consuming 12 mini tarts? I don’t think so!
I was thrilled when Lynn extended an invitation to attend an exclusive tart tasting at Fruute, a new patisserie opening July 2 in West Hollywood. I pretty much bolted from my desk at 5:20, ran to my car and floored it to West Hollywood for delicious tarts. Get ready… there is some major food porn ahead.
The space is small but very bright and open. All the tarts were on display and I knew that I wanted to almost all of them.
Can you blame me?
I don’t think so.
Like I said, I sampled almost all of the tarts. They were bite size, decadent, and not too filling. You know, so long as you eat fewer than 12. I love the idea of tarts as a mini grab and go dessert. Tarts could totally be the new cupcake.
Here are a few of the tarts I sampled…
Bailey’s Puff Tart.
Crème Brulee
Monte Blanc
Tiramisu
Black Pepper
Passion Fruit
My favorite tarts were the following:
Yuzu – Aromatic citrus cream cheese custard in a vanilla crust, topped with a golden raspberry and white chocolate fan. This tart was pretty much to die for. So crispy and delicious.
Wasabi – A rare blend of spicy Japanese horseradish and a blood orange center, layered with vanilla frangipane (!) in a pistachio crust, garnished with mint leaf tempura. I had two because it was that amazing.
Pina Colada – a tropical cocktail of pineapple, coconut, and rum in a coconut sprinkled crust, topped with a blackberry and gooseberry duo. Pina coladas are my favorite and this tart was tropical and delicious.
Salted Caramel – a mosaic of macadamia, sea salt caramel, dried berries and honey in a chocolate crust, topped with blackberry and sea salt. I love all things salted caramel.
Araguani – smooth and luxuriously textured araguani chocolate in a chocolate crust, topped with a fragrant edible rose petal and gold leaf. Very rich and chocolately!
I also had a great time catching up with Lynn.
She is a great tasting buddy!
Overall, I really loved the tarts at Fruute. Tarts are a great little treat and you should definitely check out the ones at Fruute. The store has free parking (a major incentive in LA) and opens today! The tarts made for a delicious dinner 😉
Wish I had been able to go! If only I lived closer! Those look sooo delicious.
i loved that they had free parking too! they would make such a good present.
Looks like heaven! Do you know how much they cost?
wow, that is amazing! wish i could have been there!
