My name is Katherine. I am a 24 year old law student, runner and foodie living in Los Angeles. Welcome to Left Coast Contessa!
I started Left Coast Contessa in January of 2010 as a way to escape the perils of 1L and celebrate my love for food. I have had a keen interest in food all of my life. My parents realized when I was a little girl that I’d do almost anything as long as a treat or free breakfast was promised to me. I never cooked much, but boy did I love food.
I started cooking on my own in May 2009 in Boston. I was living on my own for the first time and I had never had really cooked for myself before. I started to enjoy coking more and more. In August I moved to LA to attend UCLA Law. Moving to LA has completely changed my life in so many ways. I love Boston, as you can see here, here, here, here, and here but I needed something toshake up my life.
After moving to LA I immediately started to eat healthier and cultivate healthy habits. Cooking, food and fitness was my escape from the constant insanity that is law school. I started Left Coast Contessa in January of 2010, half way through my first year of law
school. Around the time I started LCC I began running on a regular basis and eating a healthier diet. Now I am a half marathoner and soon to be marathoner. You can read my race recaps here. As a result of running, yoga and a healthier portion controlled diet I’ve lost two dress sizes. You can read more about my weight loss here. My LA lifestyle has given me a happy, healthy glow.

Hi there,
I just found your blog. I’m based in Orange County, not too far from you. I’m glad you are enjoying L.A., I spend some weekends there just doing shopping and dining.
Good luck on law school, I work with a few lawyers in our in-house legal department and they are quite an interesting group.
Go Bruins….I really wanted to go to college there but opted to go to San Diego State University instead.

By the way, my cousin (slash top-five-favorite-people-in-the-universe) went through the Library Science Grad program at Simmons. Visited her there and it is simply gorgeous! I loved Boston and hope to go again soon……if only to just sit in the Isabella Gardner Museum for hours on end
